   Animal lovers everywhere understand the priceless worth of a devoted canine companion.  But perhaps once in a lifetime there comes a truly special dog whose impact on our lives stands out above all the rest.  Lacey was that dog.  The love, devotion and joy she brought to our family was a gift beyond measure.  The memories of raising our children will forever be associated with her sweet, loving and fun-filled presence.  She lifted our spirits each and every day of her thirteen years and we will carry her in our hearts forever.

To honor the memory of this exceptional dog we decided to start “Lacey’s Fund” to benefit retired police dogs of the Vermont Police Canine Association.  Like Lacey, these dogs give their very best to us each day and ask for nothing in return.  Lacey’s Fund will assist police dogs at the end of their service lives to take their rightful place as a loving member of the handler’s family.  No police dog should be deprived of meaningful retirement years for want of resources.  Allowing these dogs to live out the remainder of their days in comfort is the very least we can do in recognition of their contribution to our communities.  For every dog that has ever touched your heart, please consider giving back by making a contribution to Lacey’s Fund.
